IPS e.max Press

Proven luting materials

IPS e.max Press restorations can be placed with a variety of proven luting materials, which are available for a wide spectrum of indications. Crowns and bridges made of IPS e.max Press accommodate self-adhesive and conventional luting protocols (e.g. SpeedCEM Plus). Inlays, (thin) veneers, occlusal veneers and minimally invasive 1-mm crowns are placed with the adhesive technique (e.g. using Variolink Esthetic).

IPS e.max Press Multi

The innovative Multi ingots are available in selected Bleach BL and A–D shades. The material demonstrates a natural-looking colour transition* from the dentin to the incisal areas and therefore imparts monolithic restorations with a highly esthetic appearance. With these ingots, veneers and anterior, posterior and hybrid abutment crowns are fabricated quickly and efficiently. Ideally, these restorations only need to be glazed. If desired, however, they can be modified using the staining or cut-back technique.

IPS e.max Press HT

HT ingots are supplied in 16 A–D and 4 Bleach BL shades. Due to their high translucency – similar to that of natural enamel – these ingots are suitable for producing small restorations (e.g. inlays). Their lifelike "chameleon effect*" allows these restorations to adapt seamlessly to the natural tooth structure. The restorations are efficiently customized with the staining technique.

IPS e.max Press MT

The MT ingots are provided in the following shades: A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1, B2, C1, C2, D2, BL2, BL3 and BL4. These medium-translucency ingots are used in cases where a brighter material than HT and a more translucent material than LT is needed. Restorations made of the MT ingots are ideal for the staining and cut-back techniques.

IPS e.max Press LT

The LT ingots are available in 16 A–D and 4 Bleach BL shades. Their low translucency – similar to that of natural dentin – renders these ingots suitable for creating large restorations (e.g. posterior crowns). The material exhibits true-to-nature brightness and chroma*. The esthetic appearance of the restorations is maximized by the cut-back technique.

IPS e.max Press MO

The MO ingots are available in five group shades (MO 0, MO 1, MO 2, MO 3, MO 4). Given their opacity, these ingots are intended for the fabrication of substructures that are placed on vital or slightly discoloured prepared teeth. They form an excellent base for natural-looking restorations* completed with the layering technique.

IPS e.max Press HO

The HO ingots are supplied in three group shades (HO 0, HO 1, HO 2). Due to their opacity, these ingots are used to create frameworks on severely discoloured teeth and on titanium abutments. They successfully mask dark backgrounds to achieve highly esthetic results. The anatomical shape of the restorations is customized with IPS e.max Ceram.

IPS e.max Press Impulse

The Impulse ingots are available in two different levels of brightness (Opal 1, Opal 2). The restorations produced with these ingots have exceptionally opalescent properties. Therefore, this material is ideal for producing (thin) veneers for light teeth, which require an opalescent effect.

IPS e.max Press

IPS e.max Press are lithium disilicate glass-ceramic ingots for the press technique.

The innovative IPS e.max Press lithium disilicate glass-ceramic (LS2) offers excellent fit, form and function combined with high strength of 500 MPa. The material is supplied in seven levels of translucency and ingot two sizes. The resulting restorations exhibit lifelike esthetics, regardless of the clinical situation.

IPS e.max Press is used to produce single-tooth restorations, bridges for the anterior and premolar region, inlays, onlay, implant superstructures and custom implant abutments.

A wide selection of ingots are available from which users can choose to suit their preferred processing technique (staining, cut-back or layering technique) and clinical demands. The restorations are characterized or veneered with coordinated staining materials or layering ceramic from the IPS e.max Ceram assortment. Materials intended for full-contour restorations are available in 16 A-D and four Bleach BL shades. The substructure materials for the layering technique are supplied in varing levels of chromatic shades.

Available ingots:

Multi ingots

These polychromatic and polytranslucent ingots provide a natural shade progression from the margin to the incisal edge, and enable technicians to achieve a strong and highly esthetic restoration without needing to cutback and layer.

HT ingots

The high translucency ingots (HT) are ideal for the fabrication of minimally invasive full-contour restorations, such as inlays, onlays and veneers. The restorations can then be characterized with staining materials in the IPS e.max Ceram line.

MT ingots

The medium translucency ingots (MT) are perfect for a variety of indications from thin veneers to 3-unit bridges and are ideal for restorations requiring a higher brightness level than HT and more translucency than LT.

LT ingots

Full-contour partial crowns and crowns are fabricated beautifully with the low translucency ingots (LT). In the anterior region in particular, the esthetic appearance of the restorations is maximized by employing the cut-back technique.

MO ingots

The medium opacity ingots (MO) are used to fabricate substructures for vital or slightly discolored teeth. They create an ideal basis for lifelike restorations completed with the layering technique.

HO ingots

In cases where the prepared tooth structure is discolored or titanium abutments are used, the HO ingots mask the dark background to achieve highly esthetic results.

Impulse Opal ingots

The best option for enamel replacement. Restorations fabricated with these ingots exude exceptionally opalescent properties making them ideal for (thin) veneers with light teeth requiring an opalescent effect.

IPS e.max ZirPress

IPS e.max ZirPress are fluorapatite glass-ceramic ingots indicated to press on IPS e.max ZirCAD and other ZrO2frameworks with a CTE value between 10.5 and 11.0. IPS e.max ZirPress facilitates the working procedures especially for multi-unit restorations due to the detailed esthetic ceramic reproduction of the wax-up.

IPS e.max ZirPress ingots are available in two levels of opacity and in A-D and four Bleach BL shades. Moreover, two Gingiva shades are available. Since several ingots can be pressed in the IPS Investment Ring System together, they are available in only one size. Individual characterization or veneering is carried out using the IPS Ivocolor stains or the IPS e.max Ceram layering materials.

HT ingots
These highly translucent ingots are ideally suitable for fully anatomical pressing over zirconium oxide frameworks (staining technique). The Characterization and Glaze firing is subsequently conducted using the IPS Ivocolor stains assortment. If adjustments are required, the IPS e.max Ceram layering materials can be used.

LT ingots
These ingots with low translucency are ideally suitable for the cut-back technique, but also for the staining technique. After the partial press-over, the incisal area is individually completed using the IPS e.max Ceram materials. The restorations are characterized using universal stains assortment IPS Ivocolor.

Gingiva ingots
These two ingots facilitate the fabrication of the gingival portion of the restoration, especially in large (implant-supported) restorations, since the material does not shrink and the number of ceramic firings can be reduced. The actual layering of the restoration is conducted with IPS e.max Ceram layering materials with the exact accuracy of fit of the gingival area being maintained.

Optimized investment material
The optimized investment material IPS PressVest Premium is available to process IPS e.max ZirPress in the press furnaces Programat EP 3010 and EP 5010.

IPS e.max Press MT

New level of brightness for pressed restorations

Introducing IPS e.max Press MT: a new lithium disilicate ceramic ingot for the press technique

Ivoclar Vivadent extends the range of press ingots to include a new level of translucency. The new IPS e.max Press MT are monochromatic ingots of the medium translucency range. They consist of the tried-and-tested lithium disilicate glass-ceramic material and ensure clinical long-term success and flexibility during cementation.

The new monochromatic lithium disilicate (LS2) ingots belong to the medium translucency (MT) range and close the gap between the proven HT and LT ingots. The MT ingots are intended for restorations requiring a significantly higher brightness level than HT restorations. Given their reduced chroma, these ingots offer room for creativity to individualize the cervical region of restorations and achieve a natural-looking transition between dentin and enamel. The ingots are available in two sizes in selected Bleach BL and A-D shades. They are suitable for fabricating restorations using the staining or cut-back technique and are recommended for the following applications:

• occlusal veneers (table tops),
• thin veneers and veneers,
• partial crowns and crowns, and
• three-unit bridges (up to the second premolar as the terminal abutment).

Users will benefit from a high-strength material (400 MPa) that ensures clinical long-term success and affords them the possibility of using a conventional cementation technique to seat IPS e.max Press restorations, depending on the indication. Given the natural level of brightness, the material allows less translucent tooth areas to be faithfully reproduced and enables the restorations to optimally integrate into the existing natural dentition.

The new IPS e.max Press MT ingots replace the existing IPS e.max Press Impulse Value ingots. The IPS e.max Press Impulse Opal ingots are not affected by this change and will remain part of the range.
